In the previous post we discussed long term emergency water storage, now I would like to touch upon water purification. Along with storing water for emergency use it is highly advisable to have some way of purifying water from a source other then your stored water. If for some reason your main emergency water supply is inadequate due to either a prolonged emergency or due to loss or contamination it is wise to have a water purification filter and water purification chemicals on hand.
As discussed in the water storage post a few drops of bleach can be used, also you should have a few gallons of bleach stored as it makes a great disaffecting solution for most biological contaminants.
There are many different types of water purification filters on the market, but make sure you do not just have a water filter, as you need to remove biological contaminants from the water not just solids and chemicals.
